West Bank settlement expansion and settler violence reported
A report by the Commission Against the Separation Wall and Settlements details a pattern of occupation in the West Bank where de facto settlements are established before official planning processes begin. Between October 7, 2023, and September 30, 2026, the commission recorded 19 field activities, including the placement of mobile structures, road construction, and the relocation of families to create physical presence in targeted areas. The report highlights that official planning for thousands of housing units often follows these ground-level implementations.
Concurrently, UN Special Rapporteur Reem Alsalem has raised alarms regarding the targeting of Palestinian women, particularly the elderly, by settlers in the West Bank and Jerusalem. According to the commission, there have been 62,916 attacks against Palestinians, their land, and their property since October 2023. Alsalem’s findings, presented to the UN General Assembly’s Third Committee, address specific forms of violence and sexual violence faced by women in these territories.
