West Bank settlement expansion and territorial claims intensify

The West Bank is undergoing rapid transformation due to the expansion of Israeli settlements and infrastructure. New settlement hubs are increasingly occupying hills and high ground, while Palestinian Bedouin communities in the Jordan Valley are being displaced by settler shepherds and new road networks. This systematic expansion, supported by official institutions, includes the use of military checkpoints and iron gates that isolate Palestinian villages.

Reports indicate that the displacement of Palestinian communities in areas such as Kusra, Mugayyir, Tayyibe, and Masafer Yatta is driven by coercive conditions, including property theft, destruction of farmland, and water restrictions. This process effectively forces residents to migrate toward larger urban centers without formal official decrees.

In a related development regarding territorial claims, Sephardic Chief Rabbi David Yosef made controversial statements at the Gush Katif Museum. Yosef claimed that Gaza, Nablus, and Jenin belong to Israel, stating, “Gaza is ours... Nablus is ours, Jenin is ours, they are all ours.” He further denied the existence of the Palestinian people as a distinct entity, calling for the destruction of Gaza to facilitate Israeli return to the territory.
