West Bank violence causes rising casualties and health crisis

Violence involving Israeli forces and settlers in the West Bank is causing significant humanitarian and health crises, particularly in the Hebron governorate. According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), at least 77 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank this year by Israeli forces and settlers, a figure that already exceeds the total recorded for the entirety of 2025.

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) reports a severe impact on mental health, noting that between 17% and 38% of psychological consultations since March were directly linked to intentional acts of violence. Between January and July, MSF conducted over 1,930 mental health consultations and 436 group therapy sessions. The organization also responded to approximately 170 alerts regarding house demolitions, injuries, and attacks on water and sanitation systems.

The Palestinian Authority has warned of an escalation in settler attacks, noting that over 470 attacks were recorded in a single week. Since October 7, 2023, more than 1,100 Palestinians have been killed by the military or settlers. Residents report increasing difficulties with nighttime movement and property destruction, including attacks on olive groves and livestock theft.
