West Bank violence: Palestinian youth killed in settler attack
A Palestinian youth, 19-year-old Baha Sami Amin al-Natsheh, died from injuries sustained during an attack by Israeli settlers in the town of Koper, north of Ramallah. Following the shooting, Israeli forces entered the town and deployed heavy amounts of tear gas, resulting in at least one other injury from a gas canister.
The Palestinian Red Crescent reported that occupation forces prevented ambulance crews from reaching those injured during the incident. This event follows a pattern of rising settler violence in the West Bank; recent reports indicate that more than 80 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces and settlers since the beginning of 2026.
In a separate incident, 41-year-old Rafat Khairi Abu Khalil was killed during detention at the Anabta checkpoint near Tulkarm. Additionally, injuries were reported following a settler attack on the village of Al-Mughayyir, northeast of Ramallah.
The International Committee of the Red Cross has warned of the humanitarian consequences of escalating violence and movement restrictions in the West Bank, reminding Israel of its responsibilities under international humanitarian law as the occupying power.
