West Bengal announces Rs 10 crore aid for flood-hit Assam

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has announced Rs 10 crore in financial assistance for Assam to aid in relief efforts following severe monsoon flooding. The funds will be disbursed from the Chief Minister’s relief fund.

As of August 12, the death toll in Assam has risen to 103. The flooding has affected multiple districts, forcing residents to relocate to safer areas and relief camps. In response, the Assam government plans to spend approximately Rs 1,000 crore for relief, assistance, and rehabilitation. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that a survey via a mobile application is underway to assess the extent of the damage, with the second phase of the survey already in progress.

Additionally, Adhikari announced that ‘seva kendras’ in all Assembly constituencies will be named after freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, with Rs 30,000 allocated monthly to run these centers.
