West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari opens Baruipur case to all parties
West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said there is “no blockade” and that representatives of all political parties are free to visit the Baruipur site where an 11‑year‑old girl was gang‑raped and murdered. The state government announced a zero‑tolerance approach toward the crime, invoking the toughest provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act against three accused, including the prime suspect. Adhikari promised the harshest possible punishment, seeking capital punishment at trial, and warned that any police officer found negligent will be dismissed. The administration allowed delegations from the Trinamool Congress, the Left and other parties to meet the victim’s family, while denying claims of restrictions on opposition leaders. The chief minister also pledged a personal review of the investigation at the Baruipur superintendent’s office.
