West Bengal launches Seva Setu Abhiyan welfare camps
The West Bengal government launched the ‘Seva Setu Abhiyan’ welfare assistance camps on October 2 to mark Gandhi Jayanti. The initiative aims to provide a single-window system for citizens to access approximately 60 different state and central government welfare schemes.
On the first day of the three-day program, over 1.06 million people registered at the camps. The registration data included 547,965 men, 517,546 women, and 2,522 individuals of other genders. The highest number of registrations were reported from the Bardhaman, Malda, Cooch Behar, and Jhargram districts.
The camps, which run from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, are designed to help individuals apply for schemes such as the Annapurna Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Shiksha Shree, and various farmer credit cards. Additionally, the camps assist with applications for widow, old age, and disability allowances, and provide status updates for Ayushman cards. The government has deployed a total of 3,300 camps across blocks, municipalities, and panchayats to ensure services are accessible near residents' homes.
