West Bengal police arrest second aide linked to Jaish‑e‑Mohammed suspect Hamim Mondal

The West Bengal Special Task Force (STF) arrested Aditya Singh, also known as Raj, on Monday in Howrah district. Singh is identified as the second aide of Hamim Mondal, a suspected associate of the Pakistan‑based terrorist group Jaish‑e‑Mohammed (JeM).

Authorities say Singh supplied Mondal with detailed information on BJP legislator and state minister Umesh Rai and his family, facilitating honey‑trapping, blackmail and potential abduction attempts. The arrest follows earlier detentions of Mondal and his associate Arpita Sarkar, who were linked to the Shahzad Bhatti Network (SBN). Documents recovered from Mondal also revealed the schedule of West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, prompting heightened security for the chief minister.
