West Devon Councillor Demands Clarification on Green Hill Housing Plans

Independent Tavistock South East ward councillor Adam Bridgewater has asked West Devon Borough Council planning officers to explain discrepancies in the Green Hill development proposal. While the outline permission (0491/26/OPA) authorises up to 65 homes on the SX 487 744 site on Tavistock’s outskirts, documents on the council’s portal list figures ranging from about 40 to 65 dwellings, prompting the councillor to seek a clear description for residents.

Bridgewater, who has already received dozens of objections, also urged a comprehensive traffic‑impact assessment for the Green Hill scheme and the nearby Violet Lane proposal, which seeks 143 homes. Devon County Council has begun such a study after recommending the Violet Lane application be refused on highway grounds due to expected traffic pressure and poor walking and cycling links. The councillor said residents deserve accurate information and robust evidence before any planning decisions are made, and he will continue to work with locals on both sites.
