Padang Flood Relief Efforts Mobilize Government, Companies, and Communities

Heavy rain on 3 August 2026 caused widespread flooding in Padang, Sumatra Barat, affecting at least 15 locations and inundating homes, roads, and public facilities. Governor Mahyeldi Ansharullah ordered the deployment of heavy equipment to restore river flow and repair damaged infrastructure, while urging all relevant agencies to act swiftly.

Mayor Fadly Amran inspected the damage to schools, reporting that 92 educational institutions—from kindergartens to junior high schools—were flooded. He pledged that cleaning and repairs would be completed within two days so that classes could resume promptly.

Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumatra (Sumbagut) delivered 100 food and essential kits to families in the Kuranji, Air Pacah, and Koto Tangah neighborhoods, coordinating the aid with local authorities to support residents during the emergency response.
