West Sumatra Literacy Festival 2026 highlights innovation and reading

The 2026 West Sumatra Literacy Festival is currently being held in Padang, running from September 8 to 11. The event focuses on the role of literacy in preserving nature and culture.

During the festival, Governor Mahyeldi Ansharullah visited the PT Semen Padang exhibition booth to view SEPABLOCK, an eco-friendly interlock brick innovation. The Governor examined the product's efficiency in construction time, cost reduction, and environmental sustainability. He noted that literacy includes the ability to understand and apply technological innovations like these.

Additionally, Governor Mahyeldi presented awards to the year's best library visitors to encourage active learning. Among the recipients was Muhammad Hadi Almukmin, recognized as the youngest best visitor for his dedication to reading. The Governor emphasized that literacy is a strategic government effort to prepare citizens for technological changes while maintaining local cultural identity.
