WV Delegate David Elliott Pritt Charged with Enticement of Minor

Republican West Virginia House delegate and Fayette County high‑school teacher David Elliott Pritt was arrested on a federal charge of enticement of a minor. Prosecutors allege he groomed a 15‑year‑old girl on the online game Roblox, later moved the communication to Snapchat, exchanged explicit images and arranged multiple sexual encounters in his classroom at Oak Hill High School.

Following the arrest, the state superintendent suspended Pritt’s teaching certification and Fayette County suspended him without pay. The House stripped him of his assistant majority‑leader role and other committee assignments, and party leaders have called for his resignation. He remains in federal custody at the Carter County, Kentucky detention center while a preliminary hearing is set for July 27.

Pritt has been appointed court‑appointed counsel and has not entered a plea. He is presumed innocent pending trial.
