West Yorkshire Police Deploy Mobile Speed Cameras Across Leeds and West Yorkshire

West Yorkshire Police’s Camera Enforcement Unit, acting for the West Yorkshire Safety Camera Partnership, has installed a series of mobile speed cameras throughout the county this week. The deployment covers towns and cities including Huddersfield, Wakefield, Bradford, Keighley and Leeds, targeting sites identified as having high levels of speeding and road casualties.

The cameras operate by projecting a laser to measure vehicle speed in all weather and lighting conditions. Locations are listed as core sites—areas with a history of serious speeding incidents—and community‑concern sites flagged by local authorities. The aim is to reduce accidents and improve road safety across the region.
