Overview

In early July 2026, West Yorkshire Police’s Camera Enforcement Unit, acting for the West Yorkshire Safety Camera Partnership, began a county‑wide rollout of mobile laser‑based speed‑camera units in high‑speed and high‑casualty locations across Huddersfield, Wakefield, Bradford, Keighley, Dewsbury, Leeds and surrounding villages. The devices operate in all weather and lighting conditions and target 30 mph, 40 mph and 50 mph limits at sites identified as “core” or “community‑concern” locations.

In late July 2026 the rollout continued with additional units in Bradford and Leeds. In Bradford, cameras were placed on Thornton Road, Halifax Road, Harrogate Road and other 30 mph/40 mph sites, including sections of the A629 and A647. In Leeds, units were installed on Wakefield Road, Otley Road, the A58 Whitehall Road and several other arterial routes, again focusing on the same speed limits. These deployments remain subject to change and aim to further curb speeding and reduce road‑traffic casualties across the county.
