West Yorkshire rolls out mobile speed cameras this week

West Yorkshire Police's Camera Enforcement Unit, operating on behalf of the West Yorkshire Safety Camera Partnership, has deployed a series of mobile speed cameras across the county for the week. Cameras are positioned in high‑speed and high‑casualty sites in towns such as Huddersfield, Bradford, Dewsbury, Leeds, Wakefield and surrounding villages. The laser‑based units operate in all weather conditions and aim to curb speeding and reduce road accidents.

The deployment includes numerous 30 mph, 40 mph and 50 mph sites, for example Thornton Road in Bradford, Halifax Road in Keighley, Wakefield Road in Rothwell and the Leeds Road corridor in Leeds. Authorities say frequent mobile enforcement is the most effective method to prevent crashes.
