Western Australia expands wind energy capacity with two major projects

Renewable energy infrastructure is expanding in Western Australia through two major wind farm developments.

At the Warradarge Wind Farm Stage 2 near Eneabba, construction has reached a milestone with the installation of 30 new wind turbines. Owned by Bright Energy Investments—a joint venture between Potentia Energy and Synergy—the expansion brings the total turbine count to 81. Once fully operational later this year, the site will have a combined capacity of 283MW, making it the largest wind farm in Western Australia.

Separately, Tilt Renewables has reached a final investment decision for the 108MW Waddi Wind Farm located in the West Australian wheat belt. The project has secured a 15-year supply contract with electricity retailer AGL. Construction is slated to begin early next year with a target commercial operation date in 2028. The Waddi Wind Farm is expected to power approximately 68,000 homes and provide $3.9 million in community benefit funding.
