In Western Australia, the Warradarge Wind Farm Stage 2 has reached a milestone with the installation of 30 new turbines, bringing its total to 81. Once operational, it will be the state’s largest wind farm with a 283MW capacity. Additionally, Tilt Renewables has moved forward with the 108MW Waddi Wind Farm in the wheat belt, which has secured a 15-year supply contract with AGL and is expected to begin construction early next year.
In Queensland, Windlab and Squadron Energy have applied for federal environmental approval to expand the Bungaban renewable energy hub. The proposal involves adding a 500MW solar farm and a 500MW battery energy storage system to the existing 1.4GW wind farm. The hub has already secured a power purchase agreement with Rio Tinto to support its transition away from coal-fired generation.
