Western Sicily wins tourism award and forms new culinary network

Western Sicily has received recognition for its tourism offerings at the 2026 Italia Destinazione Digitale Awards, held during the TTG Travel Experience in Rimini. The Trapani area was honored for its tourist experiences, followed by the province of Enna in second place and Messina in third.

In conjunction with the awards, twelve municipalities in the Trapani coastal area—including Mazara del Vallo, San Vito Lo Capo, Favignana, and Pantelleria—have signed a memorandum of understanding to form the ‘Itinerari del gusto’ (Taste Itineraries) network. This initiative aims to market the region as a single culinary destination, integrating tuna fisheries, salt pans, and local seafood cuisine. The network is led by the Fondazione Torri e Tonnare del Litorale Trapanese, in partnership with the Western Sicily tourist district and the tour operator Sicilia da Scoprire.
