Western Slovakia fire‑risk warnings issued for dozens of districts
Police have reminded residents in western Slovakia to observe fire‑prevention rules during the heightened fire‑danger period. Burning grass, shrubbery, trees, or using open flames near forests and other combustible materials is prohibited, as is discarding burning cigarette butts.
The fire‑danger alert covers the districts of Dunaszerdahely, Komarom, Galanta, Senica, Nové Mesto nad Váhom, Bratislava and many others across the region. The Slovak Railway Authority also warned that the extreme heat may affect trains, tracks and technical equipment, urging travelers to carry water and necessary medicines.
Officials stress that the upcoming weekend will bring extreme temperatures, increasing the risk of uncontrolled fires and endangering vulnerable people.
