Western Sydney International Airport to begin passenger operations in October

Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport is preparing to commence passenger services on 25 October. Located at Badgerys Creek, the new gateway is designed to alleviate capacity constraints at Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport and will feature 24-hour operational capabilities, unlike the curfew-restricted existing airport.

Confirmed airlines for the new facility include Fiji Airways, which plans to launch flights to Nadi in March 2027, alongside Qantas, Jetstar, Air New Zealand, Singapore Airlines, Vietjet, and Fiji Airways. The airport is initially designed to handle up to 10 million passengers annually.

To mark the opening, CEO Simon Hickey announced special parking offers, including three hours of free parking for a limited time. Drive-up parking rates will start at A$15 per day for long-stay options, with various saver and premium rates available through April 2027.
