Western Sydney sees major investment and tourism growth
Western Sydney is experiencing significant economic expansion, with private investment in the Western Sydney Aerotropolis reaching $34.6 billion. This represents a tripling of investment over the last 18 months, driven by the development of the Western Sydney International Airport and the upcoming Bradfield City. Expressions of interest have opened for the Bradfield City Second Building, which is slated to open in 2028 and will offer advanced manufacturing, research, and commercial office spaces for technology and science sectors.
Simultaneously, the region is positioning itself as a standalone tourism destination through the Western Sydney Tourism Taskforce’s new campaign, ‘A World At Your Doorstep’. The initiative unites 13 local government areas to promote the region's cultural diversity and attractions, including the Blue Mountains and various cultural hubs. Visitor spending in the area has reached $9.6 billion, with the region accounting for 43 percent of all visitors to Sydney in the year ending June 2026.
