Western Union launches Stablecard Visa digital wallet on Solana

Western Union announced the launch of Stablecard, a combined digital wallet and Visa‑secured credit card that holds USDPT, a U.S. dollar‑backed stablecoin issued by Anchorage Digital Bank on the Solana blockchain. The product, developed with stablecoin infrastructure provider Rain, is available in 37 markets at launch with a plan to expand to more than 60 markets by the end of the year. Users can receive Western Union remittances directly into the USDPT wallet, hold the value to protect against local currency volatility, and spend it instantly at any Visa‑accepting merchant, including via Apple Pay and Google Pay. The rollout aims to give remittance recipients and everyday spenders a faster, cheaper way to move and use money globally. "Stablecard represents the next step in making global financial services more accessible to our customers," said Devin McGranahan, President and CEO of Western Union.
