Western Washington faces heat and wildfire smoke

Western Washington is experiencing a period of warm temperatures and hazy skies due to wildfire smoke drifting from eastern Washington. High temperatures are expected to peak on Tuesday, with the Puget Sound region seeing highs in the mid to upper 80s. Central Washington may see temperatures reaching the 90s.

Smoke from eastern Washington wildfires is currently streaming over the Cascades, causing hazy conditions particularly in the north sound. An onshore wind flow is expected to begin clearing the air along the coast starting Tuesday night.

Weather conditions are projected to shift by midweek. Cooler temperatures, increased cloud cover, and a chance of mountain thunderstorms are expected on Wednesday. Further cooling and a possibility of rain are forecasted for the latter half of the week.
