WhatsApp launches independent iPad accounts, car‑system, PDF and music features
WhatsApp released a major update that lets iPad users create and use a WhatsApp account directly on the tablet, removing the previous requirement to link the device to a smartphone. The update also revamps the app’s integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, enabling users to read, reply, make calls and access contacts from the car’s screen without a phone.
In the messaging interface, PDFs can now be opened, highlighted and annotated within the chat using Adobe Acrobat tools, eliminating the need to download files first. Additionally, the app adds one‑tap sharing of songs from Apple Music and Spotify to WhatsApp Status. The features are being rolled out gradually to iOS and Android devices worldwide.
