Overview
Meta’s July 2026 rollout continued to broaden WhatsApp’s multi‑device capabilities. The standalone iPad app now lets users create a full account directly on the tablet, though initial phone‑number verification via SMS remains required. CarPlay and Android Auto integrations were refined to support reading, replying, calling and viewing call history from the vehicle screen.

Security was strengthened by testing an alphanumeric password to replace the optional six‑digit two‑step verification PIN; the password option is currently in beta and being phased in globally. An Android beta introduced parental‑control settings that let parents link to a child’s account and manage contact requests without accessing private messages. All enhancements are being deployed gradually worldwide, expanding both device flexibility and account protection.
