WhatsApp rolls out hidden features and email security option

WhatsApp has introduced a set of lesser‑known functions that can be used without resorting to unofficial mods. Users can now edit sent messages within a short window, lock chats with fingerprint or face recognition, send view‑once photos and videos, save unfinished drafts, clear large media files from storage, switch between two accounts on the same device, and access Meta AI for text generation and private‑mode assistance.

In addition, the app now lets users add an email address to their account. The address serves as a recovery method when SMS verification is unavailable and provides an extra security layer, allowing WhatsApp to contact the user if suspicious activity is detected. Official guidance warns that third‑party versions such as WhatsApp Plus pose security and privacy risks, so all new capabilities are intended to be used within the official client.
