Benevento faces environmental emergency as foam and dead fish appear in Calore River

A white foam covering the Calore River in Benevento has been accompanied by a strong odor and large numbers of dead fish floating on the water, prompting concern among residents and officials.

Local opposition politicians from the centre‑left and the right‑wing Fratelli d’Italia have called for an urgent municipal council meeting, demanding transparency from the administration, the judiciary and environmental authorities such as ARPAC. They urge immediate answers on the causes of the foam, the status of the industrial wastewater treatment plant, and measures to protect public health.
