Polish pilgrimages to Jasna Góra draw thousands in August 2026

In early August 2026 dozens of Catholic pilgrimages converged on the Jasna Góra sanctuary in Częstochowa. Walking groups set out from towns such as Opole (the 50th Opole pilgrimage), Lublin (the 48th Lublin pilgrimage), Zamość‑Lubaczów, Świdnica, and Rogowo, while bike caravans departed from Gniezno, Rogowo, Strzelno, Inowrocław, Wilczyn and other locations. Organisers included diocesan bishops who gave blessings – for example, Primate Wojciech Polak blessed the Gniezno cyclists and Bishop Mariusz Leszczyński led the Zamość‑Lubaczów march. The pilgrimages, often lasting several days, were framed as spiritual renewal and missionary outreach, with themes such as “Peace and Good” and “Focused on Mary”. Over 2 000 participants were expected on the Lublin route alone, and the Opole walk counted about 80 pilgrims. The events were coordinated with local parishes, police escorts and mass celebrations at the destination, culminating in a shared worship at Jasna Góra.
