Widow of Miguel Uribe Turbay accuses former lawmaker of assassination plot
María Claudia Tarazona, widow of the late Colombian senator and presidential candidate Miguel Uribe Turbay, has accused former representative Luis Alberto Albán, also known as ‘Marcos Calarcá’, of involvement in her husband's assassination.
Tarazona stated she intends to provide the Attorney General's Office with a digital message received two months prior to the August 11, 2025, attack. According to Tarazona, the message identified Albán as the coordinator of the hit, alleging he organized a group of commandos to carry out the crime. She further suggested the order originated within Congress and involved funds from Venezuela.
In response, former FARC leaders and members of the Comunes Party, including Albán, have rejected the allegations, calling them ‘unfounded declarations’ and ‘slander’. The group issued a statement reaffirming their commitment to the peace process and expressed readiness to cooperate with authorities, while also noting they have taken legal steps to defend their honor and reputation.
