Widow's Bay renewed for second season following Emmy nominations

The Apple TV+ horror-comedy series Widow's Bay has been renewed for a second season following significant critical and commercial success. The show, which earned 19 Emmy nominations, stars Matthew Rhys as Tom Loftis, a mayor attempting to transform a remote, potentially cursed New England island town into a tourist destination.

Cinematographer Christian Sprenger, who also served as a producer, revealed that the series' distinctive visual style was designed to evoke the feel of 1970s classical cinema. Working alongside director Hiro Murai, Sprenger utilized deliberate static shots, slow pacing, and traditional lighting and color grading to create a nostalgic aesthetic that complements the show's themes of isolation from the modern world.
