Widow's Bay sets Emmy record with 14 wins

At the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards, Apple TV+ set a new company record with 29 wins in 2026, driven largely by the success of the horror-comedy series ‘Widow’s Bay’. The series earned a total of 14 awards, setting a record for the most Emmys won by a comedy series in a single season.

‘Widow’s Bay’ secured major categories including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series (Katie Dippold), and Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series (Hiro Murai). Murai made history as the first director of Asian descent to win in this category. The series also won for Outstanding Lead Actor (Matthew Rhys), Outstanding Supporting Actress (Kate O’Flynn), and Outstanding Supporting Actor (Stephen Root).

Matthew Rhys achieved a ‘triple crown’ of Emmy wins across three different genres, having previously won for his role in the drama ‘The Americans’. Other notable Apple TV+ wins included Rhea Seehorn for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for ‘Pluribus’.
