Wieliczka, Poland: 44‑Year‑Old Arrested for Arson in Nighttime Blaze

A 44‑year‑old man from Kraków was arrested on 16 July after police determined he deliberately set fire to a residential building on Różana Street in Wieliczka. The blaze, reported around 01:00, caused damage estimated at least 100,000 złoty. The suspect has been charged with intentional causing of significant material loss, punishable by up to five years in prison.

Meanwhile, the Garwolin County fire service released a weekly recap of its operations. The unit responded to a motorcycle crash on the S17 expressway, a waste‑dump fire in Lipówki, a boiler‑room fire in Parcele Rębków, a two‑car collision in Unin, a forest‑under‑brush fire in Puznówka, and a building fire in Iwowe. Each incident required deployment of several fire‑fighter squads and water streams, but no major casualties were reported.
