Polish fire incidents and arson

In early July 2026 Polish emergency services tackled several high‑profile fires. A blaze at an automotive workshop in Wielbark was contained before explosions could occur, and police detained five Ukrainian boys (ages 8‑12) for deliberately igniting parked cars in Poznań.

On 16 July authorities arrested a 44‑year‑old man from Kraków after he was identified as the perpetrator of a nighttime arson attack on a residential building on Różana Street in Wieliczka. The fire caused at least 100,000 złoty of damage, and the suspect was charged with intentional causing of significant material loss, punishable by up to five years in prison.

The Garwolin County fire service’s weekly recap recorded a motorcycle crash on the S17 expressway, a waste‑dump fire in Lipówki, a boiler‑room fire in Parcele Rębków, a two‑car collision in Unin, a forest‑under‑brush fire in Puznówka, and a building fire in Iwowe. All incidents required multiple squads but resulted in no major casualties.

Later in July, fire crews responded to two night‑time industrial blazes. In the village of Sowy, a production hall was tackled with drones, thermal cameras and specialist breathing‑air equipment; all workers were evacuated safely. In Lublin, a fire on an e‑waste storage pile was extinguished after more than four hours using high‑capacity water cannons and a 22‑firefighter team. No injuries were reported, and police opened investigations into the causes of both incidents.
