Wiesbaden expands free digital help for seniors

Volunteer digital advisors known as Digi‑Lotsen at the Zukunftswerk Wiesbaden are adding an extra open‑consultation hour each month from September through December to meet strong demand from senior residents. The free sessions, held on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Luisenforum on Kirchgasse 6, provide personal assistance with smartphones, tablets, laptops and a range of online services such as WhatsApp, online banking, appointment booking, electronic patient records and safe internet use.

Maral Koohestanian, Dezernentin for Smart City, Europe and Order, said, “Digital offers should make life easier. We are very happy to be able to expand the counseling hours.” Rainer Lindhauer, Digital‑Lotse and coordinator of the “Digital im Alter” initiative, added, “The questions people bring are very diverse, and the additional sessions let us help more often.” The program also seeks more volunteers to sustain the expanded service.
