Germany senior digital assistance

German municipalities are expanding free digital‑literacy services for older adults. In Wiesbaden, the Zukunftswerk’s volunteer “Digi‑Lotsen” added an extra open‑consultation hour each month from September to December to meet strong demand, offering hands‑on help with smartphones, tablets, online banking, messaging apps and safe internet use. The program seeks additional volunteers to sustain the expanded schedule.

Similar initiatives are operating in other German towns. In Bergen, the Bürgerstiftung Region runs a free “Handy‑Stammtisch” every second Friday, allowing seniors to bring written questions and receive guidance on Android and iOS devices without prior registration. In Delmenhorst, the Familienzentrum Villa offers scheduled workshops covering messaging, camera use, navigation and web browsing, with participants required to bring a charged phone. Together, these efforts illustrate a growing focus on improving digital inclusion for seniors across Germany.
