Wild boar spotted swimming across Lake Garda
A wild boar was filmed jumping into Lake Garda near Torri del Benaco on the morning of October 3, 2026. The animal was observed swimming from the eastern shore toward a beach at Baia Stanca, a distance that took approximately one and a half hours.
While the event drew significant attention from onlookers and was widely shared online, local reports indicate potential danger. One source noted that a group of at least three wild boars was involved in the crossing, and one animal was later found dead on a shore, having reportedly drowned. The provincial police eventually captured the animal.
According to the WWF, wild boars are capable swimmers, though encounters with humans in tourist areas can pose risks.
