Wild boars block homes and streets in Ariccia, Italy

Residents of Ariccia, a town in the Castelli Romani area near Rome, reported that a group of wild boars has been regularly occupying green spaces close to houses. The herd, described as two adults and five or six juveniles, allegedly approaches gates and parked cars, forcing people to wait up to half an hour before they can leave their homes. One resident contacted emergency number 112 and was told that authorities could not intervene, stating the animals “are creatures of God” and have rights. The complaint highlights growing concerns among locals over safety, the difficulty of walking pets, and the broader debate on wildlife protection versus public security.

The municipality has not yet offered a concrete solution, and inhabitants are calling for more attention to the problem, which they say has worsened in recent years across the metropolitan area of Rome.
