Wild boars enter fenced yard in Evia, startling family with infant

A family in the Rovies area of Evia, Greece, narrowly avoided a potential tragedy when nine wild boars entered their fenced property on the evening of August 20. The incident occurred around 21:30 while a woman was in the yard holding her 30-day-old infant, with two other children, aged 5 and 7, nearby.

The family managed to retreat into the house quickly to avoid contact with the animals. No injuries were reported. Lazaros Chatzigianoglou, the grandfather of the family, reported that this was the fifth time in recent days that wild boars had entered the property, though previous encounters had only resulted in property damage.

Local residents have expressed growing concern regarding the increasing presence of wild boars in inhabited areas. Chatzigianoglou emphasized that the family is not seeking the harm or killing of the animals, but is calling for immediate intervention from the authorities to find an effective solution that ensures the safety of both residents and wildlife.
