Wildfire emergencies hit Castelfiorentino and Torraccia in Italy

On July 4, 2026, firefighters from the Florence command responded to a vegetation fire along regional road SR 429 in Castelfiorentino, Tuscany. Strong winds, high temperatures and dry brush accelerated the blaze, prompting deployment of two ground teams, an aerial water‑dropping helicopter, and forest‑fire crews to protect nearby homes and create firebreaks. No injuries were reported.

Later on July 6, 2026, a separate vegetation fire erupted in the Torraccia area of the Pesaro province, Marche, engulfing an olive grove and about 15,000 m² of surrounding foliage. Ten fire units, including four vehicles from the Pesaro‑Urbino command, assisted by staff from EliMarche and the Ancona command’s operations director, contained the fire and began remediation work. No persons were harmed, and investigations into the cause are ongoing.
