Wildfire endangers villages near Nea Kallikrateia, Chalkidiki, Greece

A forest fire broke out on Saturday afternoon in the low‑vegetation area of Nea Kallikrateia, Chalkidiki. Authorities issued an evacuation notice through the 112 emergency service, directing residents of the villages Amelakia and Kipoupoli to move toward Nea Kallikrateia.

Firefighters on the scene include 45 personnel, two foot‑patrol teams, 12 fire‑engine vehicles and numerous volunteers. Aerial support consists of five aircraft and three helicopters, complemented by water tankers and heavy machinery from the Central Macedonia region. Drones equipped with visual and thermal cameras provide continuous monitoring.

Simultaneously, a second fire front is active near Leipsyrdio in Kilkis, where similar resources—55 firefighters, two foot‑patrol teams, 15 vehicles, five aircraft and two helicopters—are deployed. At present, no homes or critical infrastructure have been reported as threatened.
