Wildfire evacuation orders and alerts rescinded in Canada and US

Authorities have rescinded evacuation orders and alerts related to recent wildfire activity in Canada and the United States.

In British Columbia, the Tŝideldel First Nation, Tŝilhqot’in National Government, and the Cariboo Regional District Emergency Operations Centre have lifted the evacuation order for the Palmer Creek Fire area. While the order is rescinded, officials advise residents to remain prepared for potential future alerts and to be cautious of danger trees and poor air quality in affected areas.

In Ontario, the evacuation alert issued by the Dryden Fort Frances Atikokan District for the area surrounding the Fort Frances 39 and Minnesota’s ‘Thumb Fire’ was lifted on August 18, 2026. Although suppression activities are ongoing, officials stated that public safety is no longer a primary concern regarding these specific fires.
