Evia Fire Forces Evacuation of Episkopi Village
A large forest fire broke out in the village of Episkopi, located in the municipality of Kyma‑Aliverio on the island of Evia, Greece. At about 14:00 local time on 18 July 2026, the emergency number 112 sent a message ordering residents to leave the village and move toward the nearby settlement of Vrysi.
Firefighting units from the Kyma Fire Department, the Aliverio fire brigade and teams from Chalkida were deployed, supported by municipal water tankers. Authorities also requested aerial assistance to bolster the ground operations. The incident prompted police presence and the activation of a special investigative unit to determine the fire’s cause.
Local officials stressed that the area remains at high fire‑risk level 3, urging continued vigilance.
