Wildfires and floods trigger emergency responses in Spain, Serbia, and Indonesia

Multiple regions are facing severe natural disasters as wildfires and floods impact Europe and Southeast Asia. In Spain, extreme weather has triggered both fires and floods, leading to the evacuation of over 1,000 people in eastern and northeastern areas. In the Valencia region, a massive forest fire in Sigurpi, reportedly caused by a lightning strike, has burned approximately 633 hectares within the Sierra Calderona Natural Park. Emergency response efforts include 350 firefighters, 25 aircraft, and the Military Emergency Unit (UME).

In Serbia, the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism has deployed helicopters and firefighting personnel to combat wildfires, particularly in the Deliblatska Peščara Nature Park. Assistance includes Black Hawk helicopters and crews from Romania, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Germany.

Meanwhile, in Indonesia, the government has deployed an additional 1,500 soldiers to Borneo to fight wildfires that have consumed over 200,000 hectares and caused dense haze. The Indonesian President ordered the deployment of three additional battalions and six helicopters to bolster containment efforts.
