Wildfires hamper firefighting efforts in Deliblatska Peščara and Trebević

Wildfires are causing significant challenges in the Balkan region due to difficult terrain and weather conditions. In the Deliblatska Peščara area, Romanian emergency services reported that the terrain is exceptionally difficult for heavy fire trucks to navigate. Officials noted that the fire spreads rapidly underground through the vegetation, complicating containment efforts.

Simultaneously, firefighting operations on Mount Trebević in Bosnia and Herzegovina are being hindered by strong winds and extremely dry vegetation. Emergency responders have had to proceed on foot in certain areas due to the inaccessible landscape. While efforts are focused on protecting residential properties and forests, the cause of the Trebević fire remains under investigation, with officials suggesting human error as a possible factor.
