Wildfires impact multiple regions in Spain
Spain is managing multiple wildfire incidents across different regions. In the provinces of Castellón and Valencia, a lightning strike triggered a fire between Gátova and Segorbe. The incident has activated Level 1 of the Special Plan against the Risk of Forest Fires (PEIF), as the flames spread through difficult-to-access terrain. Emergency crews, including forest firefighters from the Generalitat and provincial consortia, are working to contain the blaze, while the CV-25 highway remains closed between Altura and Olocau.
Meanwhile, in the province of Huelva, authorities have officially declared the Niebla forest fire extinguished after a 14-day battle. The fire, which affected areas in both Huelva and Seville, burned thousands of hectares due to high fuel loads, complex topography, and unpredictable wind patterns. The Plan Infoca has concluded its operations following the intense effort to control the rapid spread of the flames.
