Wildfires persist in Nevesinje and Herceg Novi as officials visit responders

Wildfires continue to affect multiple regions, prompting visits from officials and religious leaders to support emergency responders.

In the Nevesinje municipality, a fire has been burning for nine days. Savo Minić, President of the Government of Republika Srpska, visited the site in Donja Bijenja to commend firefighters for their professionalism. He announced further investments in firefighting equipment to assist in the efforts. Firefighters are currently managing a seven-kilometer fire line on difficult terrain, utilizing aerial support from helicopters to protect homes and property. High temperatures have caused previously extinguished areas to reignite.

In Montenegro, Metropolitan Joanikije visited firefighters, rescue services, and volunteers battling fires in the Herceg Novi municipality, specifically in Bijela and Baošići. During the visit, the Metropolitan provided financial assistance to cover the daily needs of responders, such as food, water, and fuel. He offered an icon of Saint Basil of Ostrog as a sign of spiritual support to those working to protect lives and property.
