Wildfires prompt evacuations in Greece's Halkidiki peninsula, no Bulgarian casualties

Intense wildfires have spread across northern Greece, affecting the Halkidiki peninsula and areas around Thessaloniki. Authorities activated the emergency 112 warning system and ordered the evacuation of residents and tourists from the Nea Kallikrateia neighborhood and other threatened zones.

Firefighting efforts involve 45 firefighters, 12 fire engines, volunteers, and aerial support from planes and helicopters. The fires have also reached agricultural and forest lands near Thessaloniki, but there are no reports of injuries or fatalities.

The Bulgarian consulate in Thessaloniki is monitoring the situation and has confirmed that no Bulgarian citizens have been injured or require consular assistance.
