Wildfires reported in Mudanya and Edremit districts

Multiple wildfires have been reported in Turkey, with significant activity in the Mudanya and Edremit districts.

In Mudanya’s Dereköy neighborhood, a fire broke out in agricultural land and spread rapidly due to wind. Emergency teams from the Forest Regional Directorate and Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, supported by local residents using tractors and water tanks, worked to prevent the flames from reaching residential areas and vineyard houses. The fire was eventually brought under control before it could damage nearby structures.

In Edremit, a fire that began in a non-forest area near the Kadıköy neighborhood spread into a pine forest and olive groves due to wind. Following an investigation by the Edremit District Gendarmerie Command, a suspect identified as Y. Ç. was arrested. Authorities determined the fire was caused by sparks from a device made of stones used to light a fire, which ignited dry grass.
