Wildfires reported in Rhône and Lozère regions of France

Multiple wildfires have broken out in different regions of France. In the Rhône department, a fire started near Vaugneray in the Barthélémy woods around 11:00 AM on Wednesday. Approximately 5,000 square meters of vegetation were consumed by the flames by 2:00 PM. Emergency responders, including 38 firefighters and two water-bombing helicopters, are working to control two identified fire fronts. While no homes are currently threatened, authorities have advised residents to avoid the area.

Simultaneously, a significant forest fire in the Lozère department, specifically in the commune of Prévenchères, has burned over 150 hectares. The fire, which began around 4:40 PM at Le Thort, is progressing east toward the hamlet of Alzons near the Ardèche border, driven by winds of 20 to 30 km/h. Approximately 130 firefighters from Lozère and Ardèche are engaged in the operation, supported by four Canadair aircraft and two Dash planes. Officials confirmed that the Roujanel solar park is not currently under threat.
