Wildfires trigger emergencies and evacuations across Italy

Multiple regions in Italy have faced significant wildfire emergencies. In Tarquinia, three separate fires broke out in a single day, affecting the Litoranea provincial road, the Pidocchio area near the railway, and the zone between Monterozzi and Aurelia bis. Emergency response involved the AEOPC Tarquinia volunteers, the Vigili del Fuoco, the Coast Guard, and Carabinieri Forestali. The fires impacted roadside vegetation and olive groves.

In Ginosa, within the province of Taranto, three simultaneous fires fueled by strong winds forced the evacuation of several critical areas, including Cignano, Palombaro, and the North bypass. Mayor Vito Parisi ordered the evacuations as flames approached residential buildings. Emergency efforts included the deployment of a Canadair aircraft and a helicopter to combat the blaze. Authorities are investigating the cause of the Ginosa fires, with arson being considered a possibility.
